Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia hosts teams of international volunteers under Global Village Program. Habitat Ethiopia’s voluntary engagement aims at expanding partnerships and leveraging resources on sustainable basis. It also gives volunteers the chance to work alongside partners families, share cultural experiences and get firsthand information about the need on the ground. Habitat Ethiopia has hosted 131 Global village teams with 1,815 volunteers from several countries. Habitat International, Habitat Canada, Habitat Northern Ireland, Habitat Portland/Metro East and Twin Cities Habitat also sent teams of donors and senior staff who volunteered for Habitat Ethiopia.
During their stay in the country, volunteers assist in construction work and share their experiences in various fields. Many of the Global Village team members continue to support Habitat Ethiopia through Habitat National Offices. Some of them become long time donors.
