Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia is part of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat Ethiopia started work in 1993 with the aim of assisting low-income and vulnerable families to move out of substandard housing. Urban Slum Upgrading Project: USU-Addis Abeba
1600 families (8,000 individuals) have been served through housing, communal toilets, and drainage.
Regional Vulnerable Group Housing and WASH Project-Amhara and Oromiya Region
4,900 families(24,500 individuals have been assisted through housing, water, sanitation, and hygiene, waste management and capacity building.
Disaster Risk Reduction and Response WASH Resilience Building Project-Oromia Region
More 6,600 families(33,000 individuals) get access to safe water, sanitation and trained in Hygiene and sanitation.
COVID-19 Emergency Response
Habitat Ethiopia has provided sanitary kits and food items for 320 vulnerable families (1,600 individuals) who live in slum areas of Addis Ababa
Habitat Ethiopia has started Cholera prevention and mitigation project in Oromia Region, Negele Arsi District. More about 40,000 individuals will be reached through this project.
New opportunities and initiatives
A number of proposals has been submitted to partners, preparation is made to start new projects and activities are being implemented to enhance National Office capacity and realign systems with the growing scope of the organization.
